Teresa Zumwald named to 3-year leadership term on international committee serving business communicators

Some members of the IABC World Conference PAC met in New York City during the 2022 conference.

ENGLEWOOD, Ohio, July 5, 2022 – Teresa Zumwald has been selected for a three-year leadership term on the World Conference Program Advisory Committee (PAC) for the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). She is the CEO, speechwriter and storyteller at Zumwald & Company, LLC.

Zumwald will serve as vice chair of the IABC World Conference PAC in 2022–2023 with automatic succession to chair in 2023–2024 and past chair in 2024–2025.

The World Conference PAC is a programmatic committee that works collaboratively with IABC staff to ensure the IABC World Conference is a high-value professional development experience aligned to the needs of the global profession.

The 15–30 member PAC:

  • Conducts research and planning for the programmatic theme, defining and developing relevant content programming
  • Provides counsel and recommendations to meet IABC strategic directives and measurable outcomes
  • Provides annual feedback and recommendations for addition to the World Conference Strategic Directions Framework

More than 800 business communicators gathered in New York City June 26–29, 2022, for the first in-person IABC World Conference since 2019.

Zumwald’s leadership term as PAC vice chair began June 26 after the IABC Annual General Meeting in New York City. She is serving this term alongside Beth Noymer Levine, PAC chair, and Zora Artis, PAC past chair. Levine is founder and principal of SmartMouth Communications in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Artis is CEO of Artis Advisory in Melbourne, Australia.

Before becoming PAC vice chair, Zumwald served for two years as a member of the World Conference PAC: in 2020–2021 to plan the virtual IABC World Conference and in 2021–2022 to plan the first in-person IABC World Conference since 2019.

“Over the past two years, as the coronavirus pandemic and its aftermath continued, we have faced and overcome many challenges in planning a fabulous virtual conference in 2021 and a ‘comeback’ in-person conference June 26–29 this year,” Zumwald said.

“Each year, we have continued to raise the bar in new ways. As the needs of our members continue to change, the IABC World Conference will continue to innovate and reinvent itself to provide even more value to today’s professional business communicators around the globe.

“I am thrilled to serve on the leadership team of this important international committee charged with making the IABC World Conference another spectacular experience to surprise and delight members and nonmembers alike.”
