CEO, Speechwriter & Storyteller
Opening her own shop in 1989 was an experiment that’s never ended for Teresa Zumwald, a speechwriter, speech coach, communications consultant and three-time corporate history book author.
At Zumwald & Company, LLC, she works one-on-one with brilliant CEOs, entrepreneurs and subject matter experts to tell stories that resonate.
In 2009 she added speechwriting to her repertoire, and since 2013, her speeches have won 15 international, national and regional awards including nine Cicero Speechwriting Awards from Vital Speeches of the Day. Among her speechwriting clients are board chairs, CEOs, presidents, vice presidents and a former chairman of the board of two global manufacturing companies based in Europe.
Teresa also manages complex communication projects, working closely with executives, managers and administrative staff as well as graphic designers, web developers, videographers, photographers, printers and other supplier partners. Her award-winning copywriting work – recognized by eight professional organizations – has been published in 50 magazines, journals and corporate publications and online.
Before creating Zumwald & Company, Teresa was a communications specialist for Geographic Information Services at Woolpert, a national architecture, engineering and geospatial firm. She has been a reporter/copy editor for the department of University Communications at The Ohio State University, and a writer/copy editor for Diagnostic Medicine magazine in New Jersey.
Education and memberships
Teresa earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from The Ohio State University and later trained under an international speechwriter and speech coach.
She is a member of the Professional Speechwriters Association, International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), American Society of Journalists and Authors, Toastmasters International, the Ohio Society of Association Executives and Women in Business Networking (WiBN), a program of the Better Business Bureau.
Currently, Teresa is president of the Greater Cincinnati chapter of IABC and a past vice president of programs and past senior board member.
At WiBN, Teresa served on the founding advisory board from 2010–2013. She is also a past president of Downtown Morning Toasters, a club of Toastmasters International. As a past member of Women in Communications, Inc., she served as an officer, committee chair and newsletter editor.
Teresa is a 2011 WiBN Top 25 Women to Watch honoree; a 2002 winner of the Communication Leadership Award from IABC’s former Dayton, Ohio, chapter; and the 1992 winner of the Woman of Achievement Award from the former Dayton chapter of Women in Communications, Inc.
She is a weekly volunteer for the Brunner Literacy Center in Dayton and loves to travel, cook and camp – especially at her family’s longtime favorite spot: Ludington State Park in Michigan.
Cyrus Mavalwala, ABC
Communication Strategist, Trainer & Speaker
Living at the intersection of business and communication, Cyrus Mavalwala, ABC, is an award-winning communication strategist, trainer and speaker who has been helping organizations achieve their business objectives for 20 years.
After leading teams at global agencies, Cyrus founded Advantis Communications, a digital communication agency focused on content strategy, creation and activation. Advantis delivers measurable value by integrating video and social media strategies and trains its clients to do the same in-house. Zumwald & Company partners with Advantis Communications on video and High-Stakes Presentations.
Cyrus also co-founded Act Like An Agency to train communicators on how to evolve from tacticians to strategists within their organization. At the University of Toronto School for Continuing Studies, Cyrus developed curriculum and has taught social media strategy and communications management.
Both associations and companies partner with Advantis. Clients include Business Development Bank of Canada, CPA Canada, IMAGINiT Technologies, Hewlett Packard, Royal LePage, City of Mississauga, Grand & Toy, Alcatel Lucent and Unilever UK.
An active volunteer with the International Association of Business Communicators, Cyrus has sat on the board of the Toronto chapter, been a committee member at the international level and currently sits on the Canada East Region board. He judges awards including participating on the OVATIONS, Silver Leaf and Gold Quill Blue Ribbon panels in Toronto and San Francisco. Cyrus has received awards at the local, regional, national and international levels related to public relations, video production, business and internal communication.
Graphic Designer & Illustrator
For more than 20 years, Di Madewell has been the graphic designer and illustrator behind nearly all of the communications work created and delivered for Zumwald & Company clients.
She is the creative genius behind a wide variety of materials ranging from brochures, fliers, catalogs, newsletters, and magazine and newspaper ads, to logos, packaging, retail and trade show displays, and vehicle wraps. She has also produced web graphics and online ads.
Di, who’s owned A.D.i. Advertising since 1994, has received several awards for her design work for Zumwald & Company client Winsupply including:
- A 2017 Award of Excellence, APEX® Awards for Publication Excellence, Print Media − Special Purpose, for “Protect Your Investment in Your Local Company: Business Preparedness & Succession Planning Booklet”
- A 2012 Award of Excellence, APEX® Awards for Publication Excellence, Meeting & Event Materials, for “WinWholesale Resource Guide: Annual Meetings & Vendor Showcase,” a company meeting/trade show program

Di is a graduate of the School of Advertising Art, now The Modern College of Design, a nationally recognized college for graphic design in Kettering, Ohio. Earlier in her career, she served as an art director at two Ohio advertising agencies. Today she has more than 30 years of experience in the field.
Head go-getter Kelley Millar serves up speedy, efficient, virtual support services required on complex, time-sensitive projects at Zumwald & Company.
Kelley has proven to be a reliable and diligent virtual assistant with a get-it-done-now attitude. Her extensive background in the service and hospitality industry, including event planning and management, makes her the perfect support partner for everything from administrative and document-related tasks, to email and calendar management, to travel arrangements and more.
Besides providing virtual support for entrepreneurs, Kelley offers training and coaching in digital marketing and social media through her company, Kelley & Co, which she opened in 2013. She also offers event planning and management, mentoring and consulting for single- or multi-day conferences, workshops, retreats and fundraisers through her other company, Events by Kelley.
Kelley attended Shawnee State University and is a member of Zonta International, a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.
